Hello Everyone!

I trust that you all had a good New Year so far. All I can say is WOW. A lot can happen within a month, ey?! Ever since I decided to be a missionary with Adventist Frontier Missions, I've been making plans and preparations and God has been providing abundantly. I can talk about MY plans and GOD's providence. According to MY plans, I should be in Namibia already. When I first learned of the delay, I felt GROUNDED and frustrated. I think now I feel more PEACE and FREE understanding that GOD IS IN CONTROL!

My plan was to be in Namibia right now teaching the little ones...
God's providence was that I stay in the States for another month.

My plan was to put all my personal desires on hold while I engulf myself in "the mission" to come in Africa...
God's provided me with opportunities to bond even more with those that are closest to me and helped me realize that "the mission" begins right HERE and NOW.

My plan was to forget about my love life until I came back from Africa
God provided me a chance to see how strong and beautiful true love can be…even if I’m on the other side of the world. (Te Amo Mi Media Naranja)

I thought I would end up having rushed, miserable goodbyes to my loved ones that would leave me sad and lonely
I don’t think I’ve ever been happier, thanks to God, given time to say what’s on my heart.

I was planning to wait to get to know my friends better...
Instead I had time to bond even closer to them.

My plan was to wait in order to start fund raising for my second year of service...
Praise be to God, because of the delay, now I only have approximately $1500 left to raise (pennies to God).

My plan was to have my visa at the same time as my fellow missionary
God decided to let me wait to test and strengthen my faith in Him. That’s why I’m appealing to you.

Tick tock, Tick tock.... I've been waiting for a while, but it's Crunch Time. I am asking that we unite in prayer tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7th). In Namibia they are supposed to be meeting then to decide on my visa. Because of the time difference, their workday would fall between 3am and 1pm EST (New York) I am asking that you pray for me and the committee making the decision. Pray however the Lord moves you... whenever and for however long, I pray that the Holy Spirit guide you in this.

Please ask others to join you in this prayer, those you love and trust. I want to thank you all. I’ll REALLY appreciate it.

God Bless! Your sister in Christ,
Lisa Scott

P.S.: I’m also on Hi5 and Friendster. The internet and email will be my main mode of communication for the next two years… so KEEP IN TOUCH as much as you can… I will try and keep you all updated as to my Discipleship Adventures abroad.

Good News! My application for a visa to travel to Namibia has been
approved! Praise the Lord--and a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have been in
prayer for me and the Namibia mission project. This is a huge step forward:
now at least we can plan on finalizing travel arrangements and have a
definite goal for launching. However, we still have not heard any word
regarding the visa application for Lisa Scott, so please continue to keep
that in your prayers--that her application will come through in the mail by
this week or early next week.
Again, thank you for your prayers and please continue to keep the project
in prayer--especially the visa application for Lisa. I will post another
update in a few weeks after more definite plans have been made. Keep
in touch!

I want to make an urgent appeal this week for prayer that Lisa's my visas for Namibia will come through this week, before the holidays. I just received the following update from Gideon and Pam Petersen. The committee is meeting this week for the last time this year--so if the visas do not come through this week it will be next year before we hear anything. Of course, Lisa and I were originally planning to travel to Namibia during the first week of January. Although it appears that this will not be possible at this point, if the visa is delayed until January it may be impossible to travel before until much later. So please make this a matter of special prayer.

Hi everyone!

While cleaning my room in preparation for leaving to the Philippines, I finally found the piece of paper with the phone number of a friend in TX who had talked about making a large donation to my launching cost. It was 10:30 when I found it, and I won't likely get a chance to call her tomorrow, so I decided to try and call her tonight before it was too late. The guy whose house she had been staying at answered the phone. When I asked for her, he said she wasn't there, and with very little prompting, he told me the whole story of what's been happening with her.

I know that some of you guys haven't left the states yet. But I'd appreciate it if you would all begin to pray for future SMs. You've all been there - you know what it's like to be called, to begin the process. Please also pray for me and others trying to raise mission awareness and recruite. Let's ask the Lord of the Harvest for workers!

Here's an update I just received from the Petersens. It sounds like they really need our prayers right now regarding their water situation. Who knows, maybe Jenn, Lisa and I will be "roughing it" a little more than we thought! Oh the joys of mission life...

Please continue to pray for the thousands of people affected by hurricane Katrina. This is a terrible disaster for the people who have lost their homes and loved ones. Pray, not only that the people will be able to re-build their lives, but that some will come to see their need of Christ through this experience. There are so many people that don't know Christ, and time is running out.

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. -- Luke 10:2
