The majority of you guys are packing up and shipping out within a matter of weeks! ((teardrop)) Almost immediately after training, so much information, so little time... so little space in our little brains to remember it all! :-s It's like when your mom still dressed you as a little child; making sure all the buttons were aligned, tying your shoelaces, adjusting your hat, buttoning up your coat, patting you on the back and shoving you out the door. (ok, at least some of us can relate...) All the while the thoughts trying to be reconciled in our mind: half about the excitement of the opportunity for a new experience, and half dirt scared of the unknown.
It's scarrier that I'll be in the States until January! :-o AND in New York City on top of that, the "concrete jungle," the REAL jungle for a person on fire for God. Leaving after training, I was all fired up like a candle or lamp lit right after training in order to shine the Light to the world... THROUGH NEXT YEAR! Who knows if the wax will wane before I even get on the plane (hey, that rhymes
)...What if my batteries fail before I even hit the trail (why not write a poem, Lisa!)
By God's grace, those leaving in the next month have awesome potential to arrive bright and hot. It may be easier to get around familiar friends, familiar ways and ways of thinking that could feed on the fuel needed for the comission. But for the next four months, I will continually have to replenish my supply so that God will use me at the same level as those "fresh out of the box." Thank God he's the universal supplier and THIS oil is a renewable resource.
God will use us all in spite of your fears, inpreparedness, or insecurities. I wanna add the word "fearfree" to the English dictioary. I would define it as having fear, but not letting it debilitate or inhibit. Besides, do you know any "superhero" that's fearless? Carelessness would not be a valued characteristic in our society. No matter how many times Superman could save the world, he couldn't be categorized as a hero if he didn't care about the people. Cares are REAL, cares are GOOD, God cares for you (1Peter 5:7). But, as Jesus says, we should not let these cares worry us (Matt. 6:30-33) OR prevent us from growing (Matt. 13:22). That is being carefree, knowing that God loves us and has a plan for our and all lives.
Yeah, THIS jungle has more that lions, tigers and bears to be afraid of! I fear that I might get in the way of God's witness, but free in the knowledge that all things are possible with Him, in spite of me. I care about the job I might or might not get, my student loans, the friends I want to see, the $1,800 left to raise before I can even go, If I will see my baby siblings before I leave...But freed by the truth that God will never leave me nor forsake me.
It might be good to aim to be less less and more free
