Hello Everyone!
I trust that you all had a good New Year so far. All I can say is WOW. A lot can happen within a month, ey?! Ever since I decided to be a missionary with Adventist Frontier Missions, I've been making plans and preparations and God has been providing abundantly. I can talk about MY plans and GOD's providence. According to MY plans, I should be in Namibia already. When I first learned of the delay, I felt GROUNDED and frustrated. I think now I feel more PEACE and FREE understanding that GOD IS IN CONTROL!
My plan was to be in Namibia right now teaching the little ones...
God's providence was that I stay in the States for another month.
My plan was to put all my personal desires on hold while I engulf myself in "the mission" to come in Africa...
God's provided me with opportunities to bond even more with those that are closest to me and helped me realize that "the mission" begins right HERE and NOW.
My plan was to forget about my love life until I came back from Africa…
God provided me a chance to see how strong and beautiful true love can be…even if I’m on the other side of the world. (Te Amo Mi Media Naranja)
I thought I would end up having rushed, miserable goodbyes to my loved ones that would leave me sad and lonely…
I don’t think I’ve ever been happier, thanks to God, given time to say what’s on my heart.
I was planning to wait to get to know my friends better...
Instead I had time to bond even closer to them.
My plan was to wait in order to start fund raising for my second year of service...
Praise be to God, because of the delay, now I only have approximately $1500 left to raise (pennies to God).
My plan was to have my visa at the same time as my fellow missionary…
God decided to let me wait to test and strengthen my faith in Him. That’s why I’m appealing to you.
Tick tock, Tick tock.... I've been waiting for a while, but it's Crunch Time. I am asking that we unite in prayer tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7th). In Namibia they are supposed to be meeting then to decide on my visa. Because of the time difference, their workday would fall between 3am and 1pm EST (New York) I am asking that you pray for me and the committee making the decision. Pray however the Lord moves you... whenever and for however long, I pray that the Holy Spirit guide you in this.
Please ask others to join you in this prayer, those you love and trust. I want to thank you all. I’ll REALLY appreciate it.
God Bless! Your sister in Christ,
Lisa Scott
P.S.: I’m also on Hi5 and Friendster. The internet and email will be my main mode of communication for the next two years… so KEEP IN TOUCH as much as you can… I will try and keep you all updated as to my Discipleship Adventures abroad.
