Well friends, it looks like we've finally got a launch date for the heading to the Philippines! Well, tentatively (again) anyway. But this time the tickets are actually being bought! Our expected launch date is Nov. 7th. That's when the Georges are buying their tickets for, as well as mine and Danny's. I'm anxious to get out and get to work for God! So please pray that everything goes well and this launch date is met.

Is the end in sight for the drama of no water in Opuwo? I don't know, but it could be. An article in today's issue of The Namibian, Water Woes Leave Opuwo in the Dust, seems to indicate that progress is being made. The situation has gotten pretty desperate--people are paying exorbitant prices for just a bottle of drinkable water. The town has signed an agreement so that NamWater will take over water distribution in the city, and hopefully the water will be turned on again next Friday. On another interesting note, Gideon Petersen's program (mentioned in his last update) where he coordinated with other church pastors to pay for water to be brought in by truck, was also mentioned in the article. So the Petersen's and the Seventh-Day Adventist church are receiving good publicity through the newspaper article, as well.

All right, so I am now in the mountains of Palawan. I am typing on Wendy's computer since the Georges computer is not really working. Anyway, it is incredibly beautiful here. I don't want to ever leave guys. I cannot begin to describe the beauty I have seen here. Just as Kiana and I sat on the Georges' porch and looked off at all of the mountains, I have been completely awed. The people are so friendly and yeah, I love the hut, I love the food (Michel is a very good cook), I just love it. I suppose that could just be because of the newness of it all, but I don't think so. I wish you all had the privilege to visit the mountains of Palawan. Well, I have other things to attend to, but I just thought I would describe my absolute infatuation with the mountains.

On Sunday we departed for the three hour drive from the capital city, Bamako, to our small village, Kangaba. Emerging from the hustle and bustle of city life into the vast land of greenery was an experience hard to forget. In describing it I would have to say it was much like the stereotypical Africa you think about. Small mud huts with thatch roofs. Young half-naked children stopping to stare at the "tobabo" (whites). When waving at them from the window, huge smiles come across their faces as they yell to us in Bambara. There were lots of donkey carts that we passed along the road, and herds of cattle or goats to maneuver around. The road was red dirt, and as it is rainy season now, there were many grooves and ruts to dodge around as well where water would wash through. For the beginning of the journey there was a mountain range to our right, the west (i think). It was gorgeous.l At one point we stopped to take pictures of the one water fall. Later we turned away from them and then it was flat land, but very green. Occasionally we would pass by small wooded areas where the government had proclaimed it to stay untouched, or Mango groves, or rice fields. A few times we had to drive through water, but for the most part the road was dry.

Hi Everyone,
I just got to Guinea yesterday after an uneventful though quite pleasant trip (except getting a little hassling at the Conakry airport when no one was there initially to pick me up). Marc Coleman was going to pick me up but he had car trouble and so had to call someone else to get me from the airport.
