Ok, small update on my last post. I called the collection agency back this morning (I was too tired to call last night), and let Mark know that a request to have the debt reclaimed was sent in on Sept. 2nd.
He said ok, and said that it usually takes no more than a couple weeks to get those resolved so he'd put off contacting me again until the 16th of this month. He also thanked me for keeping in touch and letting him know what's going on. I didn't think of it until just after I hung up, but I probably should have asked him if he'd be willing to support me in with this mission trip. He's been very reasonable and friendly in dealing with me. Coming from a collection agency, that's probably a pretty rare thing. It may be that's why this is being dragged out so long; because God is opening a door to another supporter. The next time I talk to him, I think I'm going to ask. It certainly can't hurt. It might even help if he sees the situation I'm in and decides to throw in his own weight on my behalf to let the debt be reclaimed by the Dept. of Def. (wishful thinking, I know, but you never know what God's purpose is in certain situations). The first time I spoke with him, when this whole issue came up, I asked him for his last name, and told him that I would be sure to remember him in my prayers since he had been so friendly and willing to talk with me instead of threaten and try to intimidate me like the woman was doing whom I had been talking to before him.
So anyway, continue keeping this issue in your prayers. The whole thing isn't resolved yet, just has a stay of execution at the moment (so to speak). Thank for all the prayer support so far. It's very much appreciated.
